    Introduction

When it comes to shaving, multiple elements need to be considered, how long you want your facial hair to be, do you want a close shave or a little stubble? Would you like your cordless shaver to come with a docking station? Do you want the option to use it in the shower? And most importantly, how well is it going to work for you if you have sensitive skin?

The best bet is to go with a durable electric shaver that provides all the features that best suit your needs. There are various cordless shavers available that offer impressive functionality and a smooth shave for those with skin sensitivities.

The only challenge is that not all cordless shavers are made equal. For this reason, we have gathered together the best electric razors Amazon has to offer and reviewed each of them.

      Best Electric Razor

We tried and tested multiple electric razors from Amazon and concluded that these 14 are the best shavers for a cut that is efficient, smooth, and gentle on the skin. We used the approach to chat to men about what they looked for in a high-quality electric shaver and collected together the ones that ticked these boxes. We then reviewed each of them. Our evaluation of each was based on the following criteria: the closeness of the shave, efficiency and battery life, the features, functionality, and durability.

      1. Braun Series 9 Electric Razor for Men

      electric razor

Engineer Max Braun found Braun in 1921 in Germany. Starting manufacturing components for small radio sets, the company grew and, in 1950, introduced its first electric shaver.  The design used for these first shavers is still implemented in many of Braun’s electric razors today.

The Braun Series 9 Electric Razor for Men is one of the brand’s most popular electric shavers today, which is why we felt it needed to be included in this review.

      Specs

      • Features five shaving elements
      • Uses sonic vibration
      • Can be used for wet or dry shaving – waterproof to five meters
      • Offers 50 minutes battery time

      Who is it Best for?

If you want to give Braun’s number one shaver a try, then the Series 9 electric razor is the way to go. Its sleek look and range of impressive features offered left us wanting to know more.

After giving this electric shaver a try for a few weeks, we found it to offer an impressive and smooth shave, doing exceptionally well when it came to those more stubborn, bristly hairs that often need a few passes to get rid of them.

The trimmer that comes as part of the razor is excellent for grooming and shaping beards, although we found the trimmer on the Series 7 better for tackling sideburns.

Compared to the Braun Series 7, this shaver offers a slightly more efficient speed and is a lot less noisy, although it is still fairly loud.

      Key features

The Braun Series 9 offers a wide selection of key features that make it well worth owning. Braun manufactures this electric shaver to feature five shaving elements that include four cutters and a skin guard to prevent razor burns, snagging, and rashes.

Two of these trimmers are specialized and come with a titanium foil coating that picks up those stubborn hairs that usually need an extra pass. Braun also includes a sonic action in the shaver that vibrates with over 10,000 micro-vibrations. These make it even easier to capture every hair with each sweep – no more razor burn from having to move over the same area more than once.

Braun goes on to include a 10D contour adaption that allows the shaver to move with the contours of your face and jawline for a more even cut.

When it comes to preference, if you’re a fan of wet or dry shaving, Braun has you covered. The shaver is waterproof to five meters, so you can easily use it for both shaving styles without hassle.

      Pros

      • You can use this electric shave in the shower
      • Includes an alcohol-based clean and charge station
      • Prevents uncomfortable razor burn so it’s great for sensitive skin

      Cons

      • The razor is relatively loud
      • The docking base is rather bulky

      2. Philips Norelco OneBlade Hybrid Electric Shaver and Trimmer

      electric razor

Philips began creating electric shavers in 1939 and began trading in the States under the name of Norelco in 1940 to avoid trademark disputes with another brand similarly named to Philips. The first Philips shaver to garner great attention was the 1951 release of a two-headed model.

Since then, the brand has grown in strides, offering some of the most loved electric shavers available today, with the Philips Norelco OneBlade Hybrid Electric Shaver and Trimmer being one of them.

      Specs

      • Includes three stubble combs
      • Made for wet and dry shaving
      • Features 45 minutes battery life off a single full charge
      • Includes a moveable head that follows the contours of your face

      Who is it Best for?

According to its website, Philips Norelco is the most trusted brand when it comes to grooming. We wanted to see this for ourselves, so we set about reviewing the Philips Norelco OneBlade Hybrid Electric Trimmer and Shaver.

Philips Norelco includes three stubble combs that allow you to achieve a beard length that best suits your needs. While this is perfect for weekends or less formal outings, it isn’t ideal for an office look. If you want a close shave instead of a three o’clock shadow, then you will find you need to pass the razor over your face a few times before you get your smooth shave – not ideal if you are prone to razor burn.

We also found that while the cordless design of this trimmer to be handy, the charging time of eight hours is, in our opinion, a little excessive. Although, you will find that the shaver does hold its charge for an extended period which balances this out to a degree.

      Key features

Philips Norelco designs this shaver to be used as both a wet and dry shaver. The device is water-resistant and can be rinsed under a tap, used with shaving foam, and is even useable in the shower.

The razor design allows you to use it for trimming facial hair, for edging sideburns, mustaches, and beards, or for shaving your facial hair completely.

Three stubble combs make it simpler to achieve an even stubble across your face at the length that you prefer. The combs come in a 1mm for a shorter cut, a 3mm for light stubble, and a 5mm for a longer beard.

While this shaver is not made for use across your entire body, it does an excellent job of keeping your facial hair well-groomed. Best of all, the blade will only need replacing every four months.

      Pros

      • It works well on longer hair growth and doesn’t tug or pull
      • The razor holds its charge for quite some time
      • Ideal for men with sensitive skin and produces less ingrown hairs

      Cons

      • Takes eight hours to charge
      • Not ideal for a very close shave

      3. Panasonic Arc5 Electric Razor for Men LV95-S

      electric razor

Panasonic is a Japanese brand founded in 1918. This electronics company is known for its wide selection of products, including cameras, headphones, and televisions. Another product Panasonic offers that is often overlooked but is worth a try is its electric razors.

The Panasonic Arc5 Electric Razor for Men is one of the brand’s electric shavers. It combines an elegant design with functionality that makes it easy to use and is certainly worth a closer look.

      Specs

      • Features five extra-sharp precision-honed 30° Nanotech blades
      • Includes a linear motor that provides 14,000 cuts per minute
      • Designed for a dry or wet shave
      • Takes one hour to charge and features 45 minutes battery life

      Who is it Best for?

We came across the Panasonic Arc5 Electric Razor for Men, and it piqued our interest. The sleek design, combined with the impressive use of Panasonic’s innovative electronics, left us wanting to find out how it performed when put to use.

After trying the Panasonic Arc5 out for a few weeks, we found it relatively lightweight, far more so than the Braun Series 9. The lightweight design and ergonomic shape handle made this razor far easier to use and left us with little to no wrist fatigue.

We also found that this shaver from Panasonic adheres to the contours of your face far better than the Braun does, which we attribute to the multi-flex pivoting head Panasonic features in this design.

If you are looking for an electric shaver that delivers a clean shave, then this offering from Panasonic may be the shaver you need.

      Key features

To ensure you end up with a close shave each time, Panasonic makes this razor with a five blade system. They hone each of these Nanotech blades to a 30-degree angle to leave you with a precise and sharp cut. An exceptionally thin ARC foil allows the shaver to conform to the contours of your face, allowing for a smooth and closer shave without razor bumps and burns.

Panasonic makes the shaver waterproof, so you can use it for a wet shave or a dry one, depending on what best suits your preference. Also included is a pop-up trimmer that makes it simple to neaten up your mustache, sideburns, or beard.

Panasonic includes a built-in shaving sensor that determines the differences in your beard density, allowing the device to adjust to offer you a smooth and even shave.

      Pros

      • Provides an exceptional and very close shave
      • The shaver is lightweight and easy to wield
      • It charges in just one hour

      Cons

      • The shaver is rather expensive

      4. Panasonic ARC5 LV67  Electric Razor for Men

      electric razor

As an electronics company, Panasonic is fully equipped with innovative technology that allows it to design and manufacture premium devices that deliver excellent functionality. Blended with sophisticated design elements and easy-to-use format, Panasonic’s devices are well-loved by many.

The Panasonic ARC5 LV67  Electric Razor for Men is no exception and is favored by many men looking for that perfect shave. This grooming tool combines many of Panasonic’s key features and a sleek look that makes it both a tool of function and fashion in the world of grooming.

      Specs

      • Includes a 16-D flexible shaving head
      • Features five ultra-sharp blades
      • Comes with a pop-up trimmer
      • Uses an intelligent shave sensor

      Who is it Best for?

The Panasonic Arc5 LV67 is another of Panasonic’s high-end electric razors in its Arc5 series. The LV67 model is a higher-end version of the Panasonic Arc5 LV95 in our review above. You can expect this model to be more expensive, but you will find the price increase worth it based on the enhanced features. The LV95 comes with an active shave sensor, whereas the LV67 features an intelligent shave sensor that picks up the density of your beard more acutely, allowing for a smoother, more even shave than ever before.

The LV95 also comes with a multidirectional pivoting head, whereas this LV67 features a 16-D flexible head. This 16-D shaving head offers far greater flexibility and contours your face with ease, allowing it to glide over your jawline and skin effortlessly.

If you are looking for a razor that provides a sleek, smooth shave, then this one needs a closer look.

      Key features

The Panasonic Arc5 LV67 is made with five Nanotech blades honed to a 30-degree angle to provide you with a cleaner shave in a single pass. These extremely sharp blades prevent any razor burn, bumps, or breakouts, making the shaver perfect for use by men who suffer from sensitive skin. These blades feature a unique cutting system that captures stubborn hairs and those often missed because they lay flat against your skin.

A 16-D flexible shaving head pivots in 16 different directions. It combines with the intelligent shave sensor that adjusts the device to the varying densities of your beard to leave you with an even shave every time.

Use this shaver in the shower, or give yourself a dry shave when you’re in a hurry. A pop-up trimmer makes it simple to keep your facial hair neat and tidy, whether it is your sideburns, beard, or mustache.

      Pros

      • Features a handle that is very comfortable to hold
      • The blade cover secures to the razor far better than in other models
      • Offers an exceptionally close shave

      Cons

      • The shaver is expensive
      • Does not feature a physical travel lock
      • Doesn’t operate well on growth longer than stubble

      5. Panasonic Arc5 5-Blade Cordless  Electric Razor LV65

      electric razor

Panasonic understands the needs of its customers, which is why the brand features many products in a series, ranging from a baseline design that offers basic features for those who want to try the product but not spend too much. They then add a selection of features to each model until you reach the top of the range model that has it all. However, this version is usually the most expensive.

The Panasonic Arc5 5-Blade Cordless  Electric Razor LV65 falls into Panasonic’s Arc 5 series, a collection of cordless shavers.

      Specs

      • Offers wet and dry shaving capabilities
      • Includes a multi-flex pivoting shaving head
      • Features five ultra-sharp blades and an Arc foil
      • Is powered by a linear motor that delivers 14 000 cuts per minute

      Who is it Best for?

Panasonic offers five electric shavers in the ARC5 series, with the LA63 model as the base model and LV97 sitting at the top of the range. This Panasonic Arc5 LV65 sits somewhere in the middle. It offers similar features to the LV95 but comes without a cleaning and charging station.

You will find that this electric razor is rather pricey in comparison to competitors such as the Braun Series 7 7020s 360 Flex Head Electric Foil Shaver. However, this shaver from Panasonic features more blades for a smoother shave which explains the price difference, although the Braun does come with a docking station. You will need to weigh up which is the better deal for you.

If you don’t want a razor that offers a very close shave, this may not be the one for you as it provides a clean shave.

      Key features

Panasonic equips this electric trimmer and shaver with a powerful linear motor that provides up to 14,000 cuts per minute. This high-speed motor combined with the ultra-sharp five-blade system and the ultra-thin foil ensures you achieve a sleek and close shave each time.

The plus side to foil razors is that they not only protect your face from razor burn but they also allow the shaver to glide effortlessly over your skin. They also ensure the razor captures each hair, including those sneaky flat-lying hairs that are often tricky to cut.

Panasonic fits this razor with a rechargeable battery that makes it ideal for use when traveling. An LCD screen keeps you up-to-date on the shaver’s battery life and when it will need recharging. This particular razor offers up to 45 minutes of battery life.

      Pros

      • Offers a quiet functionality
      • Features a handy travel lock that makes it safer to use while traveling
      • The blades are exceptionally sharp and they are hypoallergenic

      Cons

      • Doesn’t include a docking station

      6. Panasonic ARC5 Cordless Electric Shaver LV97

      electric razor

Panasonic offers a range of shavers across the board. While all the models they offer are impressive, the top-of-the-range electric shavers from Panasonic are considered to be some of the best on the market.

The Panasonic ARC5 Cordless Electric Shaver LV97 is the premium model in the ARC5 series. It comes with all the bells and whistles you would want in an electric shaver. It works smoothly into your daily grooming regime, leaving you with a close and comfortable shave.

      Specs

      • Features a 16-D flexible pivoting head
      • Includes a charging and cleaning station
      • Comes with a built-in intelligent shave sensor
      • A pop-up trimmer is also included

      Who is it Best for?

When it comes to the best of the best, this Panasonic ARC5 Cordless Electric Shaver LV97 fits the bill. Its sleek ergonomic design and the impressive range of features included makes this one razor we wanted to review.

Compared to competitor offerings, this electric razor is expensive, although the Braun Electric Razor for Men Series 9 9390cc costs around $50 more.

We tried this electric razor on facial hair of differing lengths to see how it fairs. While impressive on facial hair with three days’ worth of growth or less, the LV97 does not do so well with longer hair and tends to snag.

When cutting stubble, the LV97 doesn’t miss a spot and provides an extraordinarily even cut. The handle is also very comfortable to hold and is easy to maneuver, making getting the shave you want quick and easy.

      Key features

Panasonic includes a docking station that charges and cleans the electric razor. The razor is rechargeable and cordless, making it simple to use and easier to move about than a corded razor.

The shaver features five ultra-sharp Nanotech blades that are honed and positioned to sit at a 30-degree angle that offers a precise and comfortable shave. The angle of these blades lifts flat-lying hairs that are usually difficult to reach, making it easy to cut all the hairs in a single pass.

A flexible 16-D pivoting shaver head flexes in 16 different directions allowing the razor to move with the contours of your face to deliver a clean and even result.

An advanced intelligent shaving sensor picks up the varying densities of your beard. It adjusts accordingly to these different areas to ensure you get a comfortable shave with no snagging or tugging.

      Pros

      • The handle is very comfortable to hold
      • The pivoting head reaches the neck area and jawline with ease
      • Doesn’t cause any skin irritation

      Cons

      • The shaver is very expensive
      • Not great for use on longer hair

      7. Andis 17150 Pro Foil Lithium Titanium Foil Shaver

      electric razor

Andis is a family-run business founded in 1922, specializing in a range of tools designed for cutting, trimming, curling, and straightening hair. Today the brand is a staple in many a barbershop and hair salon, loved by professionals across the globe.

One of the brand’s top electric shavers is the Andis 17150 Pro Foil Lithium Titanium Foil Shaver. This razor is compact, comfortable to hold, and it is rechargeable.

      Specs

      • Offers 80 minutes of run time
      • Features a shaver head with staggered blades for a closer shave
      • Is powered by a rotary motor
      • Sees a cordless design

      Who is it Best for?

If you are looking for a rotary razor designed for use on your head and face, this offering from Andis makes a perfect choice.

Compared to competitors BaByliss and Wahl, this offering from Andis sits at the lower end of the price scale, making it affordable and better fitting with most budgets. Better still, it offers a longer run time and is more ergonomically friendly.

After trying this shaver a few times, we found that it offers an excellent cut if your hair is not too long. Also, pushing down too hard will damage the replaceable head. It also doesn’t cut too well around the neck area and is better suited to shaving your head. On the upside, it offers an exceptionally close shave on regularly shaved hair and won’t cause razor bumps.

      Key features

This compact razor from Andis works off a powerful rotary motor that allows the shave to glide across your skin with ease. This smooth motion prevents any snagging, tugging, or catching of hairs, leaving you with a comfortable and pain-free shave. It also eliminates the formation of razor bumps, burns, and breakouts. Best of all, it delivers quiet operation.

This grooming tool has an exceptional battery life and features up to 80 minutes of run time off a single full charge, double that offered by its competitors.

The lithium-ion battery is impressive and supplies enough energy to power the motor.

A shaver head with staggered blades combines with a gold-titanium hypoallergenic foil to offer a close and irritation-free shave. Dual independent driveshafts allow for optimal functionality and an even closer shave.

      Pros

      • Is excellent for cutting fade hairstyles
      • Delivers a cut close to that of a manual razor
      • It’s perfect for sensitive skin

      Cons

      • Is easily damaged if you press down too hard

      8. Braun Series 9 Electric Foil Shaver 9390cc

      electric razor

Braun, founded over 100 years ago in Germany, is known for a selection of electronic kitchen and grooming devices, including epilators, electric toothbrushes, hair care appliances, and electric razors.

Out of its wide selection of electric shavers, it was the Braun Series 9 Electric Foil Shaver 9390cc that caught our attention with its elegant design and handy docking station. We decided to review this razor to see if its functionality matched up to its unrivaled style.

      Specs

      • Features five shaving elements for a smooth shaving experience
      • Uses sonic vibrations for smoother movement
      • Can be used wet or dry
      • Includes a leather travel case

      Who is it Best for?

The Braun Series 9 Electric Foil Shaver 9390cc looks as though it belongs in the future with its sleek lines, chrome detailing, and ergonomic design.

Compared to other Braun models and competitors, this electric razor is expensive. We tried it out for a period and came to the following conclusions: this shaver, while designed for wet and dry shaving, works better as a dry shaver. If you want to use it as a wet shaver, our suggestion is to use a good lubrication such as shaving cream or shaving oil.

Also, the hair trimmer has room for improvement. The trimer attachment slides up the side of the shaver and really offers trimming in one plane only, making it challenging to use when shaping a beard or mustache. It is, however, more efficient when it comes to trimming sideburns.

      Key features

Braun designs this shaver to be 100% waterproof, making it perfect for use in the shower or at the basin. It features five shaving elements perfectly synchronized to leave you with a smooth, comfortable shave that captures all the hairs in one pass.

Two specialized trimmers sit in the middle of these elements. They are designed to capture hard, bristle-like hairs and flat-lying hairs that are tough to cut.

A sensor allows the shaver to respond to the varying densities within your beard growth. Here, the shaver will speed up or slow down to provide you with a comfortable shave that is even, and that won’t tug or pull at hairs.

The 40 000 cutting actions per minute combine with the 10 000 sonic vibrations to leave you with a close and even shave and a razor that glides effortlessly across your skin for a shave like no other.

      Pros

      • The shaver is perfect for use when traveling
      • Offers a very quiet shave
      • The cleaning is quick and easy

      Cons

      • The razor is expensive

      9. Braun Electric Shaver for Men Series 9 9330s

      electric razor

According to its website, Braun claims the 9 Series to be the most efficient and gentle electric shavers in the world. We saw this and, naturally, had to test it out for ourselves.

We gathered up the shavers in Braun’s 9 Series and gave them a try. Here we review the Braun Electric Shaver for Men Series 9 9330s. This exceptional razor and its elegant design left us impressed visually, but did it offer the most efficient shave as it claimed?

      Specs

      • Foil shaver design
      • Includes a pop-up precision trimmer
      • Features five shaving elements
      • Can be used wet or dry

      Who is it Best for?

The Braun Electric Shaver for Men Series 9 9330s, compared to the Series 9 9390, comes in at a low price. While still expensive, this shaver is part of the mid-range offerings for the 9 Series.

It is important to note that this electric shaver does not come with a cleaning station but is accompanied by a charging dock.

We gave this electric razor a try, using it to shave beards of varying lengths to see how it performed. While it cut well, we noted that it isn’t the best if you want a very close shave, which we only achieved after making a fair few passes over the same area – not ideal if you are looking for an irritation-free shave.

      Key features

Braun designs this shaver to feature five shaving elements that combine to offers a sleek, smooth, and efficient shave that won’t irritate your skin or leave you with razor burn.

The shaver runs at 40 000 cuts per minute to prevent the razor from tugging and pulling at your hairs. This high cut average also ensures you get a smooth shave with each pass.

A unique comfort flex head moves in ten different directions, allowing the shaver to adapt to the contours of your face, making it easy to reach difficult areas such as the jawline and under the chin.

Easily used as a wet or dry electric shaver, this razor from Braun makes it easy to shave in the shower or at the basin, with or without shaving cream.

The battery life is impressive and provides up to 60 minutes of run time from a full charge.

      Pros

      • It really does offer a gentle shave
      • The durable motor does offer a more efficient shave
      • It won’t tug, even at your longer hairs

      Cons

      • Not ideal if you are looking for a very close shave

      10. Braun Series 7 Electric Foil Shaver With Precision Beard Trimmer

      electric razor

Before they brought out the 9 Series, Braun introduced a very popular 7 Series. This 7 Series was famed for its unique 360-degree flex head that provided a close shave even in the most challenging areas.

The Braun Series 7 Electric Foil Shaver With Precision Beard Trimmer comes with a charge and clean station and a travel case making it simple to keep clean and ideal for use when you travel.

      Specs

      • Features four synchronized shaving elements
      • Uses sonic vibration for a smooth shave
      • Includes an auto-sensing motor to efficiently shave beards of all densities
      • 100% waterproof for wet or dry shaving

      Who is it Best for?

When it comes to electric shavers, there are many on the market, but so far, we find this one from Braun to be the best for sensitive skin. We gave it a try for a couple of weeks and found that it provided a smooth and close shave that doesn’t cause rashes, razor burn, or razor bumps and breakouts.

Although not designed as hair clippers but rather for use on your face, we tried it on our heads anyway and found it to provide an exceptional cut for frequently shaved heads.

The clean station makes this shaver simple to maintain and easy to clean up after use. This station also doubles as a charger and is a little bulky but does an excellent job nonetheless.

Braun offers an impressive battery life on this shaver too. It features a run time of 50 minutes, far more than most of the brand’s competitors offer.

      Key features

Braun designs this 7 Series electric shaver to feature four shaving elements that comprise three blades and a skin guard that allows for a clean shave in just one pass and prevents your skin from irritation and rashes.

Incorporated into the razor is intelligent sonic and auto-sense technology that allows the shaver to detect varying densities within the beard and glide over your face with ease, delivering a precise and comfortable shave.

The contour flex head moves in eight unique directions that make it simple for the shaver to glide along the contours of your face, for an even shave even in more challenging areas.

This electric shaver offers a unique feature: the five modes that let you select between a turbo mode for a fast and efficient shave through to a sensitive mode for when you need a gentle shave.

      Pros

      • The gentle mode is excellent on sensitive skin
      • The shaver is perfect for daily use
      • It works well on very coarse hair

      Cons

      • The icons used on the device are a little cryptic
      • The cleaning and charging station is somewhat bulky

The Braun Series 7 7893s Electric Foil Shaver sits somewhere near the mid to low end of this scale, but don’t be fooled; it is an exceptional electric razor nonetheless.

      Specs

      • Features four shaving elements with specialized trimmers for challenging hairs
      • Is waterproof for wet or dry shaving
      • Operates at 30 000 cuts per minute

      Who is it Best for?

If it is a lightweight, cordless shaver that features an exceptional battery life and travels well, then this razor is worth a closer look.

Unlike a rotary shaver that requires you to move the razor in a circular motion to navigate the more tricky areas such as your jawline and under the chin, this electric razor from Braun offers an altogether different approach. The shaver head features a 360-degree flex that moves in eight unique directions, making it easy to reach even the most challenging spots and provide them with a comfortable and even shave. It feels almost as if there is a built-in suspension system that allows the blades to glide over your skin, matching the contours of your face as it goes along.

Another aspect of this shaver we enjoyed is that it offers an exceptional run time of up to 50 minutes off a full charge, making it perfect for use when you travel.

      Key features

This electric shaver from Braun comes with a few key features that will leave you impressed.

It is waterproof up to five meters, so whether you want to shave in the shower, over the basin with shaving cream, or dry shave, you can do so as you please. This versatile shaver is also simple to clean and can be run under a tap without hassle.

The impressive battery life makes it perfect for travel. The shaver offers a run time of 50 minutes off a full charge. That full charge takes only one hour to do. A display unit makes it easy to track how much battery power you have left and when the device will need recharging.

Five selection modes allow you to choose the settings for your razor, whether you are looking for a quick turbo shave or a more gentle shave for sensitive skin.

      Pros

      • The ergonomic design makes it exceptionally comfortable to hold
      • Charges easily with a power cord
      • The flexible head makes all the difference

      Cons

      • Does not come with a clean or charging station
      • The manual that accompanies the shaver is unintelligible

      • Two hours charge time provides you with 60 minutes run time
      • Incorporates Pivot and Flex Foil Technology

      Who is it Best for?

If you are looking for a low-priced electric shave that does not cost in excess of $100, this foil shaver from Remington should be your top pick. It comes in under $50, and while this may seem cheap compared to some of the other electric razors we have reviewed here, do not be fooled; this compact shaver from Remington offers unrivaled functionality.

Compared to competitor Wahl, this shaver from Remington offers a far closer shave and little to no razor bumps or burns, and it won’t snag or pull at your skin. It also costs much less.

We also enjoyed the ergonomic styling of the handle that made it comfortable to hold, even if you wanted to use the shaver on your scalp, which we did. It offered an exceptional shave on a bald head and left us rather impressed, as this is not its primary function.

      Key features

This cordless shaver from Remington features a lithium-ion battery that takes just two hours to charge fully. Once completely charged, it delivers 60 minutes of run time, impressive battery life for such a well-priced shaver.

The Remington F5 features a three-stage cutting system that first pre-trims your hairs to eliminate any long hairs. Two flexible foils then follow close behind to provide you with a close and comfortable shave that requires a single pass to capture each and every hair, so you don’t need to go over the same patch multiple times and irritate your skin.

These foils incorporate a unique Pivot and Flex Technology that allows them to move with the contours of your face, making it much less challenging to reach places such as your jawline and under your chin.

The pop-up trimmer is exceptional and allows for precise detailing and neatening of sideburns, mustaches, and beards.

      Pros

      • It is not designed for wet/dry shaving and should not be used in the shower
      • It is heavy compared to other shavers on the market

      13. Wahl Pure Confidence Rechargeable Electric Shaver, Trimmer, & Groomer

      electric razor

Wahl began in 1911 and was officially founded in 1919 when Leo J. Wahl received the patents on his newly developed electromagnetic clipper. Today the brand offers a vast range of grooming tools that include clippers, epilators, shavers, and rotary shavers.

The Wahl Pure Confidence Rechargeable Electric Razor, Trimmer, Shaver, & Groomer is one of the brand’s many innovative products and is specifically designed for detailed work and hard-to-reach places.

      Specs

      • Includes three interchangeable heads
      • Features stainless steel blades
      • Offers a 60 minute run time
      • Uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery

      Who is it Best for?

If you are looking for a shaver that works more as a light shaver, groomer, and trimmer, you should check this one out. Although designed predominantly for women, it works well for men too.

It delivers a more gentle approach than most men’s facial shavers making it ideal for those with sensitive skin that is easily irritated.

The shaver is relatively small compared to your average facial shaver and definitely works better for cutting shorter, finer hair or trimming areas such as eyebrows, sideburns, and mustaches. We wouldn’t suggest using this shaver for your daily shave, especially if you have thick or bristly facial hair.

We also found that it tends to pull and tug at longer hair, making it rather painful and results in a few ingrown hairs.

      Key features

This shaver/trimmer/groomer from Wahl features a powerful battery that provides 60 minutes of run time. This unique shaver comes with three interchangeable heads.

The first head features a rotary shaver for a smooth, close shave. This head is best used with softer, finer hair that is shorter in length.

The second head sees a trimmer that comes with a five-length guide comb that allows you to trim hair to your desired length. This trimmer is perfect for grooming facial hair, leg hair, or other body hair you may not want.

The last interchangeable head is the precision trimmer that is best used for detailed work such as neatening up sideburns, eyebrows, or mustaches.

Where this shaver shines is that it is not just designed for use on the face but rather for the entire body.

      Pros

      • The heads are quick and easy to swap over
      • The design of the shaver makes it difficult to nick or cut yourself
      • It is very comfortable to hold

      Cons

      • This shaver is not waterproof ad should not be used in the shower
      • It has a tendency to tug at longer hairs

Micro Touch is a brand that specializes in a series of men’s grooming tools that focus primarily on shavers and razors. The brand ensures its customers are provided a tool that offers convenience and efficiency, making that early morning grooming routine quick and simple.

The Micro Touch SOLO Men’s Rechargeable Trimmer, Shaver, and Groomer offer convenience, efficiency, and more making it a popular grooming tool for men.

      Specs

      • Features a pivoting head
      • Offers 45 minutes run time
      • Includes three trimming combs
      • Charges via USB

      Who is it Best for?

If you are looking for a cost-effective cordless shaver that also works as a groomer and a trimmer, this may be the solution you need.

Micro Touch’s Solo shaver is inexpensive and features a design and attachments that make it far more versatile than your average razor.

We gave this shaver a try a few times under different conditions, and these were our findings:

The shaver does not offer a close shave but instead leaves you with a three o’clock shadow. You could attempt a closer shave but will have to pass the shaver over the same area multiple times and will, in all likelihood, end up with a rash, razor burn, or ingrown hairs as a result.

We also found the trimmer heads quite flimsy, and taking off the guide combs was not an easy task.

      Key features

Micro Touch designs this rechargeable, cordless shaver to feature an impressive battery life and run time. It delivers 45 minutes off a single full charge and retains the charge relatively well.

The shaver head is designed to pivot, allowing the shaver to reach even the most challenging areas to ensure you end up with an even shave across the board.

German-engineered stainless steel blades form part of this grooming tool and offer a sharp, smooth shave. They are resistant to rust and corrosion and thus stay sharper for longer.

Included with this shaver are three trimming combs that offer a 1mm, 3mm, and 5mm guide so you can trim your hair evenly. The device overall doubles as a shaver and trimmer for areas requiring more detail, such as the sideburns and mustache.

      Pros

      • Is inexpensive
      • Can be used for body grooming
      • Features a comfortable to hold design

      Cons

      • The shaver heads are relatively flimsy in design
      • The guide combs are difficult to swap out

Things to Consider When Buying the Best Electric Shavers

      1. Style

When buying an electric shaver, you will want to keep in mind that there are two main styles: a rotary shaver and a foil shaver.

      Foil Shaver

The best foil shaver features a series (at this point, a maximum of five) of blades covered with a thin foil. This foil comes with tiny holes that capture and lift the hairs off your face to be cut by the blades. These electric shavers are best for people with sensitive skin and deliver closer, more gentle shaves.

      Rotary Shavers

The best rotary shaver features a series of circular heads, usually three, that spin simultaneously to provide a smooth and efficient shave. These electric razors are easier to use, require a circular motion to be most effective, and offer a quieter design than a foil shaver. However, a rotary shave is not ideal for sensitive skin as the circular motion required causes irritation.

      2. Features

When choosing an electric shaver, you will want to consider the features that come with a shaver and whether you want them included or not. You will find that electric razors that come with more features come at a higher price, so your budget should be in mind when considering features.

Here are a few features to consider:

      • Battery life and run time – How long the shaver runs for off a full charge
      • Charge time – How long it takes to charge the shaver
      • Wet/Dry Shaving – Whether or not the shaver can be used in the shower too
      • Guide Combs – The ability to cut your stubble evenly varying lengths
      • Density Sensors – The ability of the shaver to sense denser areas of your beard where a little more power is needed to prevent snagging
      • Pop-Up Trimmers – The ability of the shaver to also tackle areas where you require definition

      FAQ

      Conclusion

When looking for the best electric shavers, there are several things to consider. Giving thought to the brand, durability, blade style, features, run time, and quality will all put you a step closer to finding the electric razor that most suits your needs.

By closely examining and testing each of the best electric razors in this review, we concluded that they each meet the criteria discussed above, making it more simple to find the best rotary shaver or foil shaver to meet your grooming needs.
